Made with care and attention to detail in Oak Park, IL, these willow coffins are expertly handcrafted and handwoven to hold the body of your loved one. They may be placed within a green burial site or cemetery of your choosing. Families are welcome to schedule a visit to my workshop to see the process and participate in weaving and storytelling about grief, love, loss, and remembrance. This can be a tremendously healing experience and an intentional way to add meaning to the creation of this final resting vessel.
Some individuals even choose to pre-purchase a beautiful casket and use it in a practical way until it’s needed, such as for linen storage at the foot of a bed.
Contact us for size needs and custom requests. $1500-$3500 (based on size) with free delivery within 50 miles of Chicago. 15% of the purchase price will be put into a fund for individuals who request financial assistance.
Our willow farm was planted on Memorial Weekend, 2023. How befitting a time and such a special place! We began this part of WTSP’s growth journey in the fertile soil of the land my dad roamed as a kid. I think about my dad nearly every day…he was relieved of his earthly body in 1996. We visited his final resting place at the cemetery a few miles away that final morning of planting and thanked him for the love, wisdom, and generosity he bestowed on all who knew him.
We honor him by striving to pay forward the loving kindness he showed to the land, people, and critters in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Stay tuned for the progress of our nearly 1000 baby willows as we nurture them and prepare to coppice in the future for weaving more caskets and other beautiful end-of-life vessels.
